Early Embryological
Development
This site covers the critical first four
weeks of embryological development from fertilization through embryonic folding.
It has been designed in chronological order, with critical events
highlighted. The overview sections for each week have been written
to explain the sequence of events occurring simultaneously. The
weeks are then broken down into separate events, which I have
attempted to simplify as much as possible.
Finally, anomalies are covered since the study of them aids our understanding of
the normal sequence of events.
