Treatment 1. DO NOT DELAY antibiotic therapy after obtaining blood and urine culture as well as culture of any apparent focal site of infection.
2. Begin age-appropriate empiric antibiotic therapy.
3. In cases of documented bacterial meningitis repeat LP may be indicated in those patients with unsatisfactory clinical response after 24 to 72 hours of therapy.
